Mitawali Temple

Chaisath Yogini Temple of Morena is an ancient temple situated on a hill in the village of Mitavali in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the Chashtha Yogini temples in India which are still in good condition. This temple was built in the 9th century by Emperor Devpal Gurjar, the 10th ruler of Gurjara Pratihara dynasty. The temple has 101 pillars and one Shivling in 64 rooms. There is also a large circular Shiva temple in the center of the complex. The main temple has 101 pillars lined up, reminiscent of the corridor of the Parliament House. Red-brown sandstone has been used in the construction of the temple. It is believed that the idol of Goddess Yogini with Shivling in the room must have been there, but these yoginis are now safe in Delhi Museum and Gwalior Fort Museum. (1) On this basis, its name is Chaisath Yogini. The biggest thing is that the Parliament House of India, built by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, is also of the shape of this Chaisht Yogini temple. Lutyens had stolen the design of the Parliament House from this Gurjara Pratihara temple. The Archaeological Survey of India has declared this temple as an ancient historical monument.
